Health and welfare policy
I graduated from a Ph.D. program at the University of Central Florida
that prioritizes empirical research and evidence-based policy design. Although my administrative burdens led me to focus heavily on youth studies, substance use and deviance, I am confident at studying social inequalities, community outreach programs, welfare services, and intervention evaluations.
I designed and held the largest youth survey in Turkey and continued with subsequent surveys in different settings (total sampling size is above 50.000 respondents). I studied the impact of religion, immigration, neighborhood and school settings on substance use, crime, and suicide among young people.
I have also participated in projects that aim to formulate guidelines for health promotion and substance use prevention programs in the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).
